About Us
Charles M. Sarowitz, CPA/PFS, is the Founder of Sarowitz Milito & Company, CPAs, and has been the Managing Partner since 1983. With 30 years' experience in public accounting, specializing in all aspects of taxation-including tax planning, compliance, and audit representation-he is also the Managing Partner of The Elite Retirement Group, which offers comprehensive financial planning to its clients. He was an Adjunct Lecturer on federal taxation at Kingsborough Community College of CUNY for 10 years, and is a member of the AICPA, the NYSSCPA (as a member of the Personal Financial Planning Committee), the Financial Planning Association, and Ed Slott's Master Elite IRA Advisor Group. He earned his BBA from Baruch College in 1979.
Vincent R. Milito, CPA, was born in New York, NY. He attended the Bernard Baruch College of the City University of New York and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting in 1972. Mr. Milito has over forty years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial management/analysis planning, marketing and business strategies, designing and installing financial and accounting systems, training and presentations, financial problem soling and troubleshooting. He is the contributing author of Guide to Audits of Nonprofits Organization, a four volume book published by Practioners Publishing Company, Inc., currently in its twenty-fourth edition, which helps auditors audit small nonprofit organizations effectively and efficiently in accordance with professional standards. Mr Milito has extensive experience auditing nonprofit organizations having personally conducted over six hundred audits of such organizations, including many funded by Federal and State agencies. He is extremely familiar with the single audit requirements of OMB Circular A-133. Mr. Milito was also a contributing author of an article in the May 1988 CPA Journal entitled "Trends in Charities Registration and Reporting" and coauthor of A Manual and Checklists on Accounting Procedures and Internal Controls for Nonprofit Organizations and A Manual and Checklists on Financial Management for Nonprofit Managers. Mr. Milito is a Certified Public Accountant in New York and New Jersey and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants.
